How to Avoid Procrastination

How to Avoid Procrastination

The worst feeling is coming home from a long day of school and having to do hours of homework. But, what’s even worse is knowing that you will be procrastinating all night and not even start your homework until midnight. So, to avoid this repetitive problem, I have come up with a list of ways on how to avoid procrastination.

  1.  Put your phone away

Cell Phones can be very addicting and it’s nearly impossible to get any work done when you have your cell phone in the room with you. So, instead of trying to just turn it off or put it on “do not disturb”, put it in a different room where it’s out of reach. This tip will help you get so much more done!

  1.  Make a list

Write up a list of all the homework you have in each class.  It’s so much easier coming home from school and knowing exactly what you need to get done.  This tip is so helpful and will definitely  keep you organized.

  1. Do things in small increments-

An easy way to get homework done efficiently is to do it in chunks. Do a certain assignment for 20-30 minutes and then take a break. Allowing yourself to be focused for a certain amount of time, and then being able to relax will help you complete your homework.

  1. Be in a working environment

This doesn’t mean you have to go to a library every night but go somewhere with little to no distractions. Avoid going to your room, because there are so many temptations and distractions. Also, don’t do homework on your bed because you won’t be very focused and you could even fall asleep. Try going somewhere where you know all your focus will be on your homework.

  1. Motivate yourself

The best way to complete your homework is by positive reinforcement. Just think the sooner you finish your homework the more time you have to hang out with friends, play video games, and be on your phone.

I hope these 5 tips help you to not procrastinate doing your homework. You’ll be so much happier getting your homework done early rather than waiting all night and going to bed super late!
