Hiccup:

an involuntary spasm of the diaphragm and respiratory organs, with a sudden closure of the glottis and a characteristic sound like that of a cough.

Random fact is that the average person gets the hiccups 14400 times in their lifetime. Thats a lot of hiccups! What most people don’t think about until they get the hiccups is how to get rid of them. There are known to be hundreds of “cures” for hiccups but most of the time they do not work.

Common known cures:

  • A spoonful of sugar
  • Teaspoon of vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • Breath in a bag
  • Someone say “boo”

Crazy effective cures:

  • Take a big sip of water and hold your breath
  • Try and make yourself hiccup
  • 10 tiny sips of water
  • Drink water upside down
  • Drink water with a paper towel over it
