An Expensive Evening

With Prom season just around the corner, it’s easy to get caught up in the expenses that come along with it- the dress, the shoes, manicure, pedicure, corsage, boutonnieres – you see where I’m going with this; prom costs a lot more than the $85 ticket. To prove our point, we’ve created an overall (estimated) breakdown of the big night:

-Prom ticket: $85 (Ladies, don’t expect your date to pay for your ticket- just consider it an added bonus if they offer.)

-Dress: If you’re lucky, you can find a dress for $100-200, but girls are spending anywhere up to $700 on gowns- you only have one prom, right?

-Shoes: $75

-Boutonnieres: $25

-Manicure/Pedicure: $65

-Limo for group of ten: $210

-Makeup Appointment: $65

-Hair Appointment: $60

-Tanning- $70 for one-month membership:  (artificial or not, this is for those of us not blessed with sun kissed skin).

Total: $766

-Prom ticket: $85

-Tux rental: $200

-Corsage: $35

-Limo for group of ten: $210

Total: $340

As you can see, the cost of Prom can become excessive, but we can promise that the night will be one that is not only worth the money, but the stress and anxiety of finding the perfect dress or tux, the perfect date and the agonizing hour or two of picture taking your mother ensues upon you prior. Here’s to a happy prom!
