You better Redneckognize: Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is the star of the new TLC series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo which showcases her and her family and her attempts to become a pageant queen.

Honey Boo Boo, who has been featured on another TLC series Toddlers & Tiaras, is a pageant girl from little McIntyre, Georgia who loves attention and spending time with her “crazy family.” The show mostly focuses around her, but includes her parents, June “Mama” Shannon and Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson as well as her sisters Anna, Jessica, and Lauryn known as Chickadee, Chubbs, and Pumpkin respectively.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo displays Honey Boo Boo and her family as a bunch of crazy rednecks who just want to have fun and help Honey Boo Boo win her pageants. The Thompsons don’t pretend to be something they’re not, and this leads the show to be rather outrageous and at times disgusting as you see Mama’s “forklift foot” or the family cooking up some road kill for dinner.

The Thompsons give viewers a chance to see all the crazy things they do like going to the annual Redneck Game: mudding, dumpster diving, and extreme couponing. But there are some sweet moments as Sugar Bear and Honey Boo Boo have a daddy-daughter date and go to the arcade and skate together.

The show is both hilarious and mortifying.

It’s like a train wreck: You just can’t seem to look away. Honey Boo Boo continually shocks viewers with crazy catch phrases like “a dolla makes me holla” and “you better redneckognize.”

Viewers can expect to have lots of laugh and just a little bit of nausea while watching this show. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo may not be the most sophisticated thing on television, but it is a great guilty pleasure.

If you dare, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo comes on Wednesdays 10/9 c on TLC.
