To Get the Most Out of High School

Emma Bauer, Staff Writer

I want to give this to you short and sweet. There is no point losing you in words.

I am a senior in high school. Those three years ago when I was a freshman feel like yesterday and a lifetime ago at the same time.

I remember having these ideas for clubs I wanted to start. I wanted to play a sport girls didn’t normally play, join other clubs, go to more sporting events and games, but before I knew it, senior year was upon me. And now I don’t really have time to do any of that stuff.

Everyone probably hears from their parents that high school goes by fast and you should take advantage of that time, but they’re right. As a senior, my attitude is that I will be going to every single pep rally and every single football game. I’m also going to sign up for the powderpuff game that takes place in April, because “why not?”

In all honesty, there is no reason–most of the time–that you should not try out for a sport or audition for theatre, join a new club, join Spear-It Crew, or do anything else that sparks your interest if you want to. It’s high school. A small, albeit mildly important, chunk of time in your life. You are a teenager. Be a teenager! Make it worth your while.

Life is short, and high school is shorter, so seriously, enjoy it.
