Green Cord

Green Cord

Natalie Ryan, Staff Writer

Want to give back to your community or earn your service hours for an organization? If yes, then I strongly recommend joining the Green Cord program. Anyone can join Green Cord as long as you attend Keller High School. The Green Cord program is a volunteering club ran by student council; Neha Muraly is the club president.

The first year that it started at Keller high school-2001-there were 25-30 people participating, but last year there were more than 800 students who signed up, and over 50,000 volunteer hours recorded. In order to receive a green cord for your 100 hours, it is necessary that you meet these deadlines: December 19th and April 13th. By the first deadline, you need to have turned in 25 hours or more. By the second deadline, you need to have turned in 100 hours or more.

For more information, or to join Green Cord, go online to Keller High School Green Cord. Members will not be accepted after the first deadline and you must pay a one time entry fee of $10.00. It is worth it, because volunteering not only feels awesome, but also looks good on college applications; so join Green Cord!
