Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

Kamal Sidhu, Managing Editor

With the New Year set into place, it can be tedious to keep a New Year’s resolution. Sometimes when we make a resolution, we get busy, forget, or we simply become completely lazy. So here at The Webwam, we compiled a list of ways to help you accomplish your goals for the New Year.

Set specific goals: Sometimes we make goals that we can trick ourselves to get out of. For example, getting better grades. To some people, getting better grades could be all A’s, and to another it could be passing all of their classes. So instead of making a goal such as “get better grades”, we should make goals like “get 90’s or above in every class.”

Be realistic: Don’t make goals that won’t be accomplished. Before you make your goal, make sure that you will be able to complete it.

Plan ahead: If your goal is to lose 5 pounds, make sure to plan what days you will go to the gym and what you will eat. This way you know exactly what you need to do in order to complete your goal.

Tell a friend: Telling a good friend about your resolution is beneficial to completing your goal. A friend can motivate you, keep you on track, and be a good listener if something goes wrong.

Reward yourself: If you accomplish a step in the process of getting to your goal, make sure to reward yourself with a day at the spa or getting a pizza.

Don’t beat yourself up if you slip once; just keep working!
