State champions is a huge accomplishment in any sport, becoming one takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Lacrosse has just recently in the past years started to move down into the southern states. Last year, the Keller 2015-2016 girls lacrosse team won the state champion game. These girls practiced 5 days a week not including their own conditioning and games. Their hard work paid off throughout their undefeated season.

This was their coach Megan’s first year coaching this team and from the first practice she saw the passion each girl had for this sport and the skills that were outstanding. The first practice, when she saw the team she stated, “ you girls will win state”. She believed in the Keller girls lacrosse team and that support and belief she had for our girls helped them reach remarkable goals.

Their captain Lauren Skalinak was a very powerful and passionate player to the sport. Her dedication and will to win pushed the team to limits they didn’t know they could even achieve. She became a division 1 college lacrosse commit. Our team in this upcoming season will miss her urge for victory and drive for success, but we all know she will do great things.

Due to winning the championship game this division 2 team has been moved up to division 1. The competition will be harder and the stakes will be higher, but these girls will not give up on their team or coaches. They lost 6 really good tributes to the team because of them graduating, but they have some fresh new blood rising up to fill these very big shoes.
Our girls will need to work harder and really dedicate their time to trying to achieve high goals to obtain the name they have of state champions. Their goals for this year is to make it all the way to playoffs.
