Keller Cross Country Season Begins

The starting line of the Marcus 1 invitational is filled with anxious runners toeing the grass in anticipation for the sound of the starting gun. However, unknown to the common eye is the training and preparation that has gone into this singular moment.

The start of cross country began well before this first meet, the end of school to be exact. Five days a week, runners have been rolling out miles to build up for the upcoming season.

The hard work has shone through. With the Elite Varsity, Varsity, Elite JV and JV girls taking third, sixth, fifth and eighth out of the many teams that competed at the meet. The boys’ teams also put up a fight against the highly ranked schools seizing ninth, eleventh, ninth and sixteenth place.

Both teams did great out of the nearly 30 schools that ran, but they are not satisfied yet and hope to progress for future meets. And the recent hard work has shown through.

At the most recent meet, the Debbie G Keller Invitational, the team showed their growth from Marcus. The Varsity and JV girls took second and third, and the Varsity and JV boys both stole third.

The Keller Cross Country team has many aspirations for this season and would appreciate your support at the meet next Saturday, October third, at Timber Creek high school at 8:00 AM.
