With the soccer pre-season in full swing, the KHS boys soccer team has their mind set on making it to the playoffs this year after a disappointing end to the season last year.

In the 2013-2014 season the team had a winning record but just missed the playoff cut. This year they are working extra hard to do well and make the playoffs.

“Our preseason started on December 30th, but our district games start on January 27th,” Spencer Alexander said, a sophomore, who made the varsity soccer team this year.

So far in the preseason the team has been struggling.

“So far we are 1-2-3, but these games don’t count and don’t affect [us] making playoffs,” Alexander said.

Injuries have been a major factor in the success of the team.

“We don’t have many substitutes and it can affect our games if we don’t have our starters,” Alexander said.

Practices are very important for success in any sport, and the intensity has really picked up this year at soccer practice.

“We’ve been practicing since the second day of school, doing a lot of conditioning, working on pass drills and fixing our mistakes,” Alexander said.

With the season approaching quickly, the boys will have to step it up if they want to make it to the playoffs. It would really help if you came out and supported the soccer team!
