Spring Activities in DFW

Spring Activities in DFW

Meleah York, Staff Writer

With the unpredictable spring weather, it’s hard to plan out spring activities to do with family or friends when it could literally start raining any time. I’ve compiled this list of fun spring activities to finish out the month of May and the season of spring.

  1. The Perot Museum is relatively new to the DFW area. This museum not only has a great gift shop and IMAX theater, but the exhibits are interactive, especially ones like the engineering lab or the senses exhibit. Overall, there’s something for everyone’s interests, and is a fun activity whether the weather cooperates or not.
  2. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden might be more dependent on the weather, but the trip is worth it. Admission to the main garden is free, and spending the day with friends taking cute pictures distracts from all of the finals and AP tests you have to take! But seriously. Take pictures with all of those flowers, for the aesthetic.
  3. Texas Frightmare Weekend (May 5-7) will be held at the Hyatt Regency DFW and the headliners are the cast of Stranger Things! This horror convention will include panels and autograph sessions as well as makeup FX demos.
  4. As the weather gets warmer, stopping by Steel City Pops in Fort Worth is worth the long wait in line. You’ve probably already heard of the tastiness of their popsicles and the real ingredients they use to make them, so this delicious treat will cool you down if you’ve been out and about.
  5. If you want to get a taste of authentic Texan history, then before the summer sun makes the air as thick as molasses, the Fort Worth Stockyards are a great place to go in the spring. Hear stories from real cowhands and stop to watch the twice-daily cattle drive.

Hopefully this list gives you some good ideas on what to do before it gets so hot that all you want to do is stay inside and sit in a tub of ice all day. Go experience spring before it leaves!!
