Valentine’s Day Fun

Cindy Ciotta, Staff Writer/Broadcast Journalism

February is here! It’s the shortest month of the year and is best known for its major holiday: Valentine’s Day. Typically on Valentine’s Day people give chocolate and teddy bears, and although sweet, the chocolates don’t last long and the bear gets put away somewhere. So what’s really the best gift on a day like this? A good time with good people, if you ask me (but that doesn’t mean chocolate can’t come, too). Whether you’re planning a date, time with friends, or with family, sometimes it can be hard to decide the best places to go. Fortunately, I am here to suggest some fun things you can do on this day, that are actually pretty reasonably priced and close by.

  1. Texas De Brazil – If you’ve never been here before, and you love meat, stop reading this and just go right now. The “buffet style” restaurant is never a disappointment unless you’re vegan. You’re given a card that has green on one side and red on the other. When the card has green facing up, it signals the waiters to stop at your table and slice off a piece of whatever type of meat that waiter has. Once you’ve had enough, you can flip your car over to red. You’ll never leave here hungry.
  2. Art Museum in Fort Worth or Dallas – Does this really need to be explained? Let the art speak to you.
  3. Lake it – assuming the weather is good, taking a boat out is always fun.
  4. Sundance Square in Ft. Worth – This area is so fun. There’s so much you can do, including going to a chocolate factory, listening to live music, carriage rides, and shopping at boutiques, just to name a few.
  5. Go see a movie at Moviehouse or Harkins or watch one at home
  6. Top Golf.
  7. Aquarium or Zoo.
  8. Your own kitchen – bake something!
