Places to Visit for Christmas

From coast to coast, many American towns go all out for the holiday season. These communities go to great lengths to fill their town with Christmas spirit by decking out their streets with thousands of dazzling and twinkling lights. All of the decorations and Christmas trees sprawled around these towns make for a very festive December and successful Christmas. Here is a list of five towns filled with incredible decorations and holiday spirit.

1. Christmas Town USA

Where: McAdenville, North Carolina

McAdenville, a small town about 20 minutes outside of Charlotte, gets so into the Christmas spirit each December that they change the name of their village to Christmas Town USA. Thousands of people come to visit Christmas Town USA to gawk at the 450,000 lights that decorate this hamlet. Over 375 trees light a route perfect for a winter stroll through the McAdenville’s downtown.

2. Koziar’s Christmas Village

Where: Bernville, Pennsylvania

The Bernville town has been participating in showing Christmas spirit since 1948. Many families come to visit this Christmas town and watch the millions of light displays, as well as viewing the small cottage shops and meeting Santa Claus face to face.

3. Ogden’s Christmas Village

Where: Ogden, Utah

This Christmas Village illuminates Ogden’s downtown area with breathtaking displays and holiday lights. Spectators find themselves in a winter wonderland, modeled after Santa’s North Pole Village, where they are able to meet Christmas elves, Mrs. Claus and Mr. Claus.

4. Durango, Colorado

This historic mining town uses the local steam engine train during the month of December to include a Polar Express inspired trip as the train travels along the Animas River and through the snowy mountains.

5. New York City, New York

With a 69-100 feet Christmas tree decked with about 30,000 lights attached to five miles of wiring and topped off with a 550 pound star, New York boasts of being one of the best cities to experience a grand Christmas day.
