Perfect songs

Maggie Coleman

I’ve been in a bit of a musical rut lately. I find myself reaching for the same 10 songs to play on the way to school every morning, which I hate because I love having a variety of music to listen to. Music for me is a big deal. It affects my mood and is the background to my life at times. I’ve decided to compile a list of what I consider to be perfect songs. They’re all different genres, but all have in common the fact that they’re all around perfect. I could listen to these songs all day and never be tired of them. If you’re looking for a playlist with a clear genre and musical theme, however, turn away now. This playlist is simply a jumble of things I like.

  1. “There is a light that never goes out”-  The Smiths
  2. “Oh, What a world”- Kacey Musgraves
  3. “Alive”- Khalid
  4. “Princess of China”- Coldplay
  5. “Out of my league”- Fitz and the Tantrums
  6. “Needy”- Ariana Grande
  7. “Dirty Paws”- Of Monsters and Men
  8. “XO”- John Mayer
  9. “Tailwhip”- Men I Trust
  10. “Zombies”- Childish Gambino
  11. “The Letter”- The Box Tops
  12. “Strawberry Swing”- Coldplay
  13. “Best Part”- H.E.R
  14. “This Charming Man”- The Smiths
  15. “Pink+White”- Frank Ocean
  16. “Moon River”- Frank Ocean
  17. “Froot”- Marina
  18. “Sunlight”- Hozier
  19. “Love Drought”- Beyonce
  20. “Pray You Catch Me”- Beyonce

There you have it! My favorite songs. I tried to include a variety of different artists and genres so it wouldn’t be really repetitive, and have different sounds as well. It varies from fast songs, slow songs, and everything in between. My favorite way to listen is to have the playlist on on my way home from school. It’s also great for studying, or just to have in the background.

All of these songs make me happy in one way or another. They’re not all necessarily happy songs, but they’re all super catchy and sound very pleasing to the ears. The only genre I didn’t put in this playlist was country. It’s my least favorite genre to listen to so I decided to just exclude it completely. Happy listening!
