Film Review: Black Panther

Joshua Canfield, Staff Writer

Black Panther is a rated PG-13 fantasy/science fiction film directed by Ryan Coogler. The movie released in theatres on February 16.

Coogler made popular film Creed in 2015, which received high reviews and was well done. So going into the movie, I had high expectations to be impressed.

When T’Challa’s father dies, he returns home to be crowned king of Wakanda. But in the midst, an enemy out of the past returns. The Black Panther must use his allies and all his power to protect and save Wakanda.

The Black Panther is played by Chadwick Boseman, who is best known for portraying Jackie Robinson in 42. Erik Killmonger is played by Michael B. Jordan, whos is best known for portraying Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station. The iconic duo has a conflict from the past that in uncovered through the movie. You see the character development on both sides and can feel for either side, even though their goals are different.

Black Panther is a must see movie and is great movie to see with family and friends. It shows tradition mixed with the modern era. I would love to see Wakanda someday.
