RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Predictions

RuPauls Drag Race All Stars: Predictions

Mack LeBlanc, Staff Writer

RuPaul’s Drag Race is a groundbreaking show about the art of drag (hunny) that has been on for longer than most realize. The show was before its time and it’s lived to see the light of day in its prime. It’s outstanding, hilarious, and inclusive; it’s my favorite show.

The new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars has aired and the race starts quickly. There’s a magnificent cast and it can be anyone’s game. So who will win?

At the time of my writing this, there are six queens left: Trixie Mattel, Shangela, Kennedy Davenport, Aja, BenDeLaCreme, and BeBe Zahara Benet. These girls have all done great so far, though a few have found themselves in the bottom, or simply just safe. BenDeLaCreme has been in the top every single challenge so far, yet she’s only won two lip syncs. When it all comes down to it, the final battle is a lip sync, a big one, in front of a huge live audience and Mother Ru. So no matter how “terminally delightful” Ms. Creme is, I don’t think she’ll be able to make that final push. With that said, I’d be gagged if she didn’t make it to the top three.

Now let us talk about my personal favorite queen, Trixie Mattel. She has the most unique and exciting aesthetic on that show. She isn’t just a man in drag, she isn’t a woman, she’s a doll. And Trixie has a backstory, down to her name and why she looks like she does, everything is there and I love it. I think the thing I was most excited to see was her snatch game, but I was disappointed when she just flopped. She landed herself in the bottom. It took my breath away; she started crying and saying how she got in her head, she was struggling, and I love her for that. She admitted she was wrong, and she was vulnerable. It was beautiful. By the grace of RuPaul and Shangela, she stayed.

Speaking of Shangela, let’s move on. She has excellent make up skills, she’s beautiful, and she’s shady. She’s playing the game to win. She made an alliance with Trixie through not sending her home, and claims to be playing Drag Race All Stars like it’s Game of Thrones.  But I have to say, she has her moments, though I really don’t think she’ll make it all the way.

I’ll talk about Bebe Zahara Benet now. I love her. She’s regal, queenly, and funny when she needs to be. Otherwise, she’s got a character and she plays it well. That’s something everyone can appreciate. I think she’ll make it to the top.

Aja and Kennedy will share a paragraph because they both bore me. (Sorry, reading is fundamental). If I had to pick between the two, Aja is, at least, nice. Kennedy is not my favorite; she came in on a hideous fashion note. She remained safe, and remained a kind of shady that I can’t deal with. Aja is lovely and gorgeous, but I feel she’s been falling in the background. I haven’t seen anything (except for her variety show performance) that made me laugh out loud or even raise an eyebrow. I just wish she’d serve a little bit more of something.

Finally, predictions! I think in the next episode either Kennedy or Aja will be out. I think Trixie is going to step it up on a serious level because she just got a big reality check. Ben will probably get to lip sync again, but not win it, and Ms. Benet will be regally safe. Trixie, Bebe, and Ben are the three queens I think will make top three. Who do I think will win? Bebe “done already had hers,” and if you think Ms. Creme would win a lip sync against Trixie, you must be joking.
