Fashion Trends for Winter

Be stylish as the temperatures drop.

With Thanksgiving behind us, Christmas is just around the corner. This means colder temperatures, and new winter fashion. I’ve picked out some of the most promising fashion trends, so you can incorporate one or two into your wardrobe.

Mom jeans — Comfy chic has been a trend for the duration of 2017, and with the revival of the 80’s and 90’s, it’s no surprise mom jeans have come back in style. They’ve been debated by fashion critics as not looking the best, but ultimately, are a good compromise between comfort and style.

Denim — While denim has been a staple in fashion for a while, denim on denim is a trend that has become stylish once again. A good way to wear this style day-to-day is jeans with a denim jacket, or a denim skirt and denim jacket, (not to be confused with Britney Spears’ and Justin Timberlake’s denim dress and suit). Be cautious, as this is a look best pulled off with casual clothes and not with dresses or outfits for special occasions.

Office wear — The opposite of comfy-chic, office wear is essentially putting a casual spin on more formal looking office clothes. This can be done by distressing a blazer or embroidering long trench coats to look more millennial. Thrift shopping for office wear is a great way to customize your own outfits without spending too much money, or if you’re on a budget.

Sportswear — The main component of comfy-chic, sportswear, is extremely popular at the moment. Most people enjoy dressing up leggings or yoga pants, but windbreakers and puffier jackets are also fun winter sportswear pieces that can be easily dressed up while maintaining their functionality.
