Trending on Netflix

Everyone loves Netflix. It brings people together.

Since the beginning of television, people have fallen in love with countless classic movies and shows. Today, everyone can binge watch most of the modern shows in our pajamas.

Recently, The Wigwam Twitter account held a poll about popular shows airing on Netflix. The results showed Stranger Things and The Office at the top.

One Tree Hill – 13%

Two half-brothers living in a town called Tree Hill in  North Carolina compete in basketball and in their love life. The brothers, Lucas and Nathan, start out as enemies, but slowly their relationship progresses.

Shameless – 13%

In a bad neighborhood of Chicago, six kids try to get by with an alcoholic dad and an absent mom. With the craziness their dad, Frank, brings to their home, multiple jobs to barely pay the bills, crime and felonies, and not-so-typical neighbors, the title of the show serves it well. This show gets more interesting with each episode. Just a warning, some parts are NOT appropriate for kids!!

Friends – 26%

This show, based on six friends living in Manhattan, ranked within the top ten of television season ratings and also was the fifth most watched TV series, by about 52 million Americans on its season finale. Such a good show. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow star in one of the best 90’s shows ever.

The Office – 48%

Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B. J. Novak, Ed Helms, Melora Hardin, David Denman, and more play in a hilarious American show which takes place in a basic office building (duh) for a business managed by Michael. He is very oblivious, which is one of the funniest parts of the show. The Office started in 2005 and lasted until 2013, but the show is still a favorite today, four years later.

Bob’s Burgers – 0%

I was very surprised no one voted for this one. But don’t be fooled, this show is also really funny and a popular favorite among Netflix watchers who enjoy dry humor. It’s about a family who runs a hamburger restaurant, the Belchers–parents Bob and Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise.

Orange Is the New Black – 20%

Orange Is the New Black centers on Piper Chapman, a woman who served time in prison for a drug deal she committed years ago. The show explores her experiences in prison and the drama that takes place in jail, as well as her connection with old friends.

Vampire Diaries – 27%

My personal favorite of all these, Vampire Diaries, takes place in Mystic Falls. It is about Elena Gilbert’s life with her best friends Bonnie and Caroline and how their lives are turned around because of Stephen and Damon (vampires) and the supernatural world they never knew existed until Stephen showed up. Season 8, the last season, was just recently filmed and placed on Netflix. If you have not yet seen this show, I highly recommend it. Each episode is always super interesting and you’ll most likely fall in love with the characters.

Stranger Things – 53%

This science fiction horror show is set in the 1980’s in Hawkins, Indiana. It focuses on the disappearance of a boy, a worried mother, and the investigation. Many supernatural occurrences take place, making it especially interesting for those who enjoy sci-fi and suspense.
