Four Books That May Change Your Life

Abby Wormsbaker, Staff Writer

Every now and then we come across a few things that change the way we look at life. This may come through films, song lyrics and, book quotes, or even people. The books listed below have a significant amount of inspiring pages that will make you question things–how you feel, what you believe your purpose in life is, or even guide you to figuring yourself out.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is a book about discovering your personal legend. Throughout this read, you go through a journey about self discovery and learn about the characters’ new wisdom. It’s a great book with tons of great quotes about travel, adventure, and discovering potential. This book is a quick read and will bring great joy within the pages.

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield

If you have interest in any form of the arts–writing, acting, painting–but often times feel uninspired or not in an artistic mood, then this book is for you. The War of Art is a book that helps inspire artists by learning about resistance and the effects that come along with it. It’s a book that will teach you how to break through that “I’ll do it later” mindset and to overcome creativity/writing blocks. My copy of this book has underlined sentences on almost every page. It will inspire you greatly.

The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron

Another book for any person aspiring to be an artist. It gives advice about the creative process and what the author has done in the past to achieve her success. Throughout this book you will be guided on a process to creativity and achievement. It is perfect for anyone looking for more than what they know. Like the previous book mentioned, this book has underlined sentences everywhere. The author seems to know just the right moves to get you inspired.

If You Feel Too Much by Jamie Tworkowski

If You Feel Too Much is for people who (as the title says) feel too much. This book goes deep into what it means to be a human, what it means to feel emotions that often times  can get the best of us. It’s almost as though this book is full of answers, because in some ways it is. Within these pages you will be reminded that you are not alone in life, and you certainly are not the only person feeling such emotions. There are no words that can fully describe the masterpiece that this book is. Again… so many sentences are underlined that are extremely moving, raw, and real. Take my advice sincerely, and read this book.
I hope these books inspire you in one way or the other. It served great inspiration and advice within my life and I know it will do the same for you. Take what you need from these books, and remember the lessons that follow.
